Marine Ecosystem service assessment tool

Ecosystem Services fit under the umbrella of the BONUS BaltCoast research focus. The research will be oriented on the assessment of ecosystem services in the marine environment, more specifically coastal and transitional waters. For this purpose an  Marine Ecosystem Services Assessment Tool (MESAT) will be developed according to the actual CICES classification and based on Water Framework Directive water bodies classification and following the "The Matrix" approach developed by Dr. Benjamin Burkhard. This will allow to fullfill the gap of knowledge of ecosystem services assessment in the marine environment and in this case for the Baltic Sea.
