Date: August 20– 26, 2017

Location: University of Latvia, Academic Center for Natural Sciences, Riga, Latvia

Description
This is the 2nd Summer School organized by BONUS BaltCoast project and after successful run in 2016 at Klaipeda University (Lithuania) it will take place now in Latvia, coordinated by University of Latvia. The course focus and main content will be - System Approach Framework application for Coastal Research and Management. The SAF is a methodology that has been designed, developed and tested by various institutes and universities across the European Union, where multidisciplinary teams were involved in the analysis of coastal problems, engaging in inter- and transdisciplinary work with society and policy, tackling environmental problems in the coastal zone, aiming to improve the ecological sustainability, economic efficiency, and social equity. Socio-ecological system approach and stakeholders’ participation into problem-solving and decision making process could be seen as key factor for a SAF application for complex local coastal area problem situations.
