Biennial field campaign at Oder Lagoon to strengthen research collaboration in the Baltic Sea region

From August 15th-20th a group of scientists, among them researchers from the BONUS BaltCoast project, came together for a field campaign at Oder Lagoon to strengthen the collaboration between their institutes.

The campaign at the Oder Lagoon, also known as the Szczecin Lagoon, takes place every other year. This time, the BONUS BaltCoast scientists from the Institute for Baltic Sea Research Warnemünde (Germany) were joined by their colleagues Sven Dahlke from Greifswald University (Germany) as well as by Diana Vaiciute and Martynas Bucas from Klaipeda University (Lithuania). The campaign covered biological, physical and management aspects of the Oder lagoon, which is in main focus of the German BaltCoast case study. To approach these aspects interdisciplinary and from a broad view, the competence and know-how of several institutes and researchers were combined at the field campaign. Aim is to establish a long-term research cooperation between the institutes for an improved science collaboration in the Baltic Sea region.
